The Kentucky State BBQ Festival is less than 4 days way right now. Be sure to save your appetite for some barbecue cooked up by some real champions.
THIS IS A EATING FESTIVAL – STAY HUNGRY, MY FRIENDS!
Moe Cason of Ponderosa BBQ is coming in from Des Moines, IA to prepare the kind of food that catapulted him into the final rounds on TLC’s BBQ Pitmasters. Moe has won numerous awards for his BBQ as well as in steak competitions.
Melissa Cookston of Yazoo Delta BBQ of Nesbit, MS is the winningest woman in the male-dominated world of championship BBQ. A two time winner of the Whole Hog competition at Memphis in May and a competitor on TLC’s BBQ Pitmasters, Melissa is ready to serve those who come to the Kentucky State BBQ Festival the kind of food that powered her to victory in Memphis.
Carey Bringle of Peg Leg Porker is a regular on the KCBS competition circuit and his Barbecue Sauce won 2nd Place nationally in a competition run by Bob Appetit magazine. Carey hails from Nashville, TN and will be working his magic this coming Saturday and Sunday at the Kentucky State BBQ Festival.
Craig Kimmel of Firehouse BBQ is coming up from Orlando, FL for the Festival. Among other BBQ items, Craig will be preparing the Brisket that won him the Brisket Competition in TLC’s BBQ Pitmasters. Be sure to stop by Firehouse BBQ for some of the Brisket along wit some of his Key Lime Cole Slaw.
Shelly Hunt owns Desperado’s BBQ in Angola, NY and is a member of the Board of Directors of the National BBQ Association right here in Louisville, KY. Shelly is an experienced competitor and event vendor, so get ready for some of the best BBQ to come out of the Northeast.
Brad and Cindy Simmons of Perryville, KY and Lucky Doq BBQ of Danville, award winning BBQ competitors on their own right, lend a local flavor to the Pitmaster lineup. Brad is well know throughout Central Kentucky for his Brisket and Pork Shoulder.
With a lineup of Pitmasters like this, you can only go wrong by not coming out to the Kentucky State BBQ Festival and enjoying a day (or 2) of BBQ, Beer and Music.
But wait! There’s more…
Dr. BBQ Ray Lampe will be on hand to demonstrate how to make Championship Pulled Pork, Brisket, Ribs and Chicken and will be available for book signings of his books as weel as to chat with attendees.
Tim Farmer of Kentucky Afield will be here to demonstrate preparing wild game, such as venison and turkey for smoking. Tim will be available for two hours after his demos to answer your questions on smoking wild game.
Vendors of BBQ products will also be on hand so you can test your own BBQ skills using first quality sauces, rubs and more when you get home.
Don’t miss this opportunity to come out and eat some Championship BBQ, have a cold one, listen to some fine music and enjoy the company of our Pitmasters, Dr. BBQ, Tim Farmer, our sponsors and vendors and our staff of volunteers, all of who will make you feel welcome to Danville and the Kentucky State BBQ Festival.
As Uncle Oinky says, Don’t be dum – get you some!
