Leslie Roark Scott started cooking competitive BBQ in 1989 alongside her father, Pitmaster Garry Roark. In 1992 she was the first female to win a Memphis in May sanctioned Grand Championship. Leslie and the Ubons BBQ Team have cooked in competitions and festivals all over the country including The Big Apple BBQ Block Party, Memphis in May, The Jack Daniels World Championship, Windy City Smoke Out and Hogs for the Cause.
Since 1989 Ubons BBQ has competed in 68 Memphis in May sanctioned contests, plus 10 Memphis in May World Championships barbecue contests finishing 1st place in 1996. Over an 11 year period, Ubon’s have won 49 1st places, 36 2nd places, 11 3rd places and 21 Grand Champions. Ubons were also five-time Mississippi State BBQ Champions and one time Illinois State Barbecue Champions. They were in the top 10 teams in the nation from 1991 to 1998 and top 20 teams from 1999 to 2001.
Leslie is an owner and chef for Ubons Restaurant in Yazoo City, MS. Leslie has appeared on Chopped Grillmasters and Chopped Impossible and is a Chopped Champion. She has also appeared on BBQ Crawl, BBQ Pitmasters and Smoked.
